The Kent State men's basketball team dropped to 14-6 overall and 11-5 in MAC play after falling to Ball State, 90-71 on Wednesday afternoon. Malique Jacobs scored a career-best 23 points, but the Flashes were unable to keep pace with the Cardinals. The Cardinals' lead hit the 20-point mark with under two minutes remaining in the first half and took a 57-31 lead into the intermission. Ball State dominated beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes, scoring 33 points from long range as they shot 11-of-16 from long range, while the Flashes only converted 2-of-11 from three point range.
 On the season, the Flashes are shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 33.1 percent from beyond the arc. Defensively, Kent State has held its opponents to 70.9 points per game on 41.5 percent shooting from the floor and 34.2 percent from long range.

The RedHawks, stand (11-9, 8-7 MAC) under the direction of 4-year head coach Jack Owens. Miami has won three straight, all on the road and all coming during a six-day stretch as the RedHawks captured a 69-64 win at Northern Illinois on Feb. 20, a 96-54 win at Central Michigan on Feb. 23 and a 74-66 win at Western Michigan on Feb. 25. The string of wins equals a three-win stretch over five days for the RedHawks in late January.
Miami has three players scoring in double figures in Grant (14.1) Lairy (13.2), and Brown (12.9). Brown also leads the RedHawks averaging 7.4 rebounds per game.
