KENT, OHIO- Seton Hall catcher Collin Sheehan snuck a line drive inside the foul pole for a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh and that proved to be the difference in a 7-4 setback to the Pirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Flashes had erased an early 4-0 deficit, drawing even in the bottom of the sixth on an Aidan Longwell single that the Pirates' infield lost in the sun and wind. The single brought in two and knotted the game at four.

Seton Hall took an early lead for the second time in the series as Zack Sylvester homered in the first off starter Max Rippl. They added a two more in the second, using two singles, a walk and an error to push the lead to 3-0. The lead would grow to 4-0 before the Golden Flashes started to make their move. Ben Carew started the fourth with a single before Michael Turner hit an absolute cannon shot over the rigth field wall for his second homer in as many days to make it 4-2. Kent State would chase starter Ryan McLinskey in the fourth and loaded the bases before Michael McNamara grounded into a bang-bang 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

The Flashes would get two more runners on in the fifth only to see another double play turned by the Pirates end the inning. In the sixth, Longwell's single with the bases loaded tied the game but David Festa came on and got Cam Touchette to ground out hard to first and end the threat. Festa locked down the game after the Pirates took the lead in the seventh. The Seton Hall righty retired all 10 batters he faced to get the win in relief.

Kent State takes the three-game series 2-1 and moved to 6-5 on the season, 5-1 at home. Seton Hall improved to 3-7 with the victory. The Golden Flashes stay at home next weekend and opens Mid-American Conference play with the Northern Illinois Huskies in town. The four game set will start Friday with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
