
Crum Named Finalist For Greater Cleveland Sports Award

KENT, OHIO- Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum has been named a finalist for the College Male Athlete of the Year by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the 21st Greater Cleveland Sports Awards.
Crum is one of three finalists for the College Male Athlete of the Year joining former Ohio State catcher Dillon Dingler and Iowa State linebacker and Brecksville-Broadview Heights graduate Michael Rose.
The senior quarterback had a tremendous 2020 season, backing up a stellar 2019 campaign. Crum was named first team All Mid-American Conference. Crum was honored after leading the Mid-American Conference in completion percentage (73.5) and yards per game (295.3).
The Grafton, Ohio native also finished third in touchdown passes (12) despite playing in two fewer games. He also led all MAC quarterbacks in rushing yards (240) and rushing touchdowns (4). With Crum leading the offense, the Kent State Golden Flashes led the NCAA's top-scoring offense, averaging better than 50 points per game.
The strong 2020 season backed up the pre-season accolades for the senior quarterback. Crum found his name on several pre-season watch lists as he was named to the Davey O'Brien, Manning, Maxwell, Unitas and Wuerffel Award watchlists.
Should Crum win the Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year, he would join the 2012 Kent State Baseball Team, and track-and-field athlete Reggie Jagers III who also took home the award.
Dalton Dingler was a standout catcher for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was a second-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in the 2020 MLB Draft. Dingler hit .340 in Ohio State's shortened 2020 baseball season, 10 of his 17 hits went for extra bases.
In 2020, Mike Rose was named the Big-12 Defensive Player of the Year and All-America by several publications. Rose led the Cyclones and the Big-12 with 96 tackles. Rose had 10.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions on the season. ย
The 21st installment of the awards will be held virtually on Thursday, March 4th at 7 p.m. The event will be televised on WKYC and Sports Time Ohio as well as streamed on wkyc.com.
