Flashes Finish Third at MAC Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kent State gymnastics team finished in third place on Saturday afternoon at the Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Western Michigan.
Kent State recorded a 195.425 on the day, just under half a point off the pace of overall winner Eastern Michigan.
"Obviously we are a little disappointed," said Head Coach Brice Biggin. "We put ourselves in a pretty good position and were only .025 away from second place and not that far away from first. I'm proud of how hard the girls fought today, and I feel like we are moving in the right direction."
The Flashes started out on floor – their best event by far – and did not disappoint. MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year, Abby Fletcher, tied a career-high 9.925 on the event to win the individual title. It was her fifth individual win on floor this season. Toshi Richard tied for second place on floor, tying her career high score of 9.900.
Kent State posted several other top-10 finishers across the other three events. Olivia Amodei, Karlie Franz and Rachel DeCavitch tied for ninth place on bars with a score of 9.800. Riley Danielson also finished inside the top-10 on beam, tying for eighth place with a score of 9.800.
