Turner’s Grand Slam Gives Kent State Doubleheader Sweep of Rockets

KENT, Ohio – Junior Megan Turner sent a full count pitch well over the wall in left field for an 11-7 walk-off win in the second game of a doubleheader against Toledo on Saturday at the Diamond at Dix. Kent State won the first game, 11-4.
The Golden Flashes (5-10, 2-0 MAC) collected 13 hits in both games as part of an offensive explosion. Kent State posted an outstanding .473 batting average and blasted five home runs. Seniors Brenna Brownfield and Alexis Taube each homered twice. Brownfield had a team-high seven RBIs and scored four runs, while Taube shared the team lead with five hits and drove in five runs. Junior Brooklyn Whitt went 7-of-8 at the plate and scored five runs. Senior Carlee Selle recorded five hits, including a pair of doubles.
Freshman Jessica LeBeau (3-5) earned a victory in her first Mid-American Conference outing and totaled 13 strikeouts over eight innings. Sophomore Gabbie Sherman (1-3) earned her first victory in a Kent State uniform in the second game.
