Student Athletes Thrive in Spring Semester

KENT, OHIO- Kent State student-athletes continue to thrive in an ever-changing academic environment as the department has posted the third-highest term grade-point average (GPA) in and second-highest spring term grade-point average in department history.
The Golden Flashes posted a department-wide term GPA of 3.321 and a department cumulative GPA of 3.335. That marks 19 consecutive semesters a cumulative GPA over 3.0 and 18 straight semesters with a term GPA over 3.0. The 3.321 term grade point average is second highest in department history.
"This term was a team effort," Angie Hull Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services said. "Huge shout out to the academic counselors, learning specialists and tutors who conducted thousands of zoom calls and answered countless text messages with our student-athletes. Their efforts did not go unnoticed and provided excellent virtual support to make the semester a huge success."
Men's and women's basketball set a new program record for term grade point average. Baseball, field hockey and wrestling each posted their second-highest term GPA in their program history. Eleven teams posted their term and cumulative grade-point averages over 3.40.
Over half of Kent State student-athletes (58%) recorded a term GPA over 3.4 and 59 student-athletes (13%) recorded a perfect 4.0 this spring. Twenty football players (26%) that will return for the fall, have already earned their undergraduate degrees.
