
Carew And Goth Earn MAC Medals of Excellence

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Kent State senior outfielders Ben Carew and Kennadie Goth have earned the Mid-American Conference's Medal of Excellence as announced for the 2020-21 academic year.
The Medal of Excellence is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 12 Conference member institutions. Each school chooses a male and female student-athlete that exhibits excellence in their sport and in the classroom. A minimum 3.50 grade point average is required for eligibility.
Carew closed his Kent State baseball career with his second first-team all-conference honor and earned a spot on the MAC's all-defensive team. Carew finished his Kent State career with a .352 lifetime batting average, good for top-10 in program history. He is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District outfielder and is on the 2021 ballot. Carew earned his undergraduate degree in business as well as his Master's in Business Administration.
Like Carew, Goth ended her senior season with an All-Conference season, earning second-team honors. She led the Golden Flashes in batting average for the second time in three years, posting a team-best .389, a mark that ranked seventh in the MAC. Her standout 2021 season pushed Goth's lifetime batting average to.372, second-best in program history. In the classroom, Goth has been recognized in past seasons as a scholar-athlete from the National Fast Pitch Coaches' Association and graduated with a degree in nursing.
