
Golden Flashes Set Academic Records Across Multiple Programs in Fall 2025 Semester

KENT, Ohio – Kent State Athletics continued its remarkable academic excellence during the Fall 2025 semester, with student-athletes achieving a 3.398 term GPA and a 3.389 cumulative GPA. The Golden Flashes placed 233 student-athletes on the Dean's List and 30 on the President's List.
Every team had a term and cumulative GPA above 3.0. Also, multiple teams set program records and achieved outstanding academic milestones throughout the semester.
"Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate exceptional commitment to excellence in the classroom," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond. "These impressive results are a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes and the outstanding support provided by our academic staff and coaches."
Academic Highlights
- Baseball achieved the highest semester GPA and highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.531 and 3.493), with 20 student-athletes named to the Dean's List and two earning President's List honors.
- Field Hockey set new program records with the highest semester GPA (3.717) and highest cumulative GPA (3.685) in program history, placing 19 student-athletes on the Dean's List.
- Football maintained academic consistency for the sixth consecutive semester above a 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA (3.049 and 3.050), with 25 student-athletes named to the Dean's List and two earning President's List honors.
- Gymnastics demonstrated strong academic performance with 79% of the team at a 3.0 or higher term GPA, placing 12 student-athletes on the Dean's List and three on the President's List.
- Lacrosse posted the highest fall semester GPA in program history (3.648), with an impressive 91% of the team at a 3.0 or higher term GPA. The team placed 26 student-athletes on the Dean's List and three on the President's List.
- Men's Basketball achieved the highest semester GPA and highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.227 and 3.185), with six student-athletes named to the Dean's List.
- Men's Cross Country showed strong results with 45% of the team above a 3.4 semester GPA and three student-athletes named to the Dean's List.
- Men's Golf demonstrated a solid academic performance, with 55% of the team achieving a semester GPA above 3.4, placing three student-athletes on the Dean's List and two on the President's List.
- Men's Track & Field recorded the second-highest term GPA and second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.358 and 3.265), with 21 student-athletes named to the Dean's List.
- Soccer posted the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.678) and had a 3.639 semester GPA. An impressive 19 players were recognized on either the President's List or the Dean's List, with four earning President's List honors and 15 earning Dean's List honors.
- Softball excelled with 15 players making either the President's List or Dean's List, including six perfect 4.0 GPAs. Two earned President's List honors, and 13 made the Dean's List.
- Volleyball set new program records with the highest fall semester and cumulative GPA in program history (3.611 and 3.588), placing 11 student-athletes on the Dean's List and one on the President's List.
- Women's Basketball posted strong results with 71% of the team above a 3.4 semester GPA, with eight student-athletes making the Dean's List and one earning President's List honors.
- Women's Cross Country posted the highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.829) and a 3.779 semester GPA. Ten student-athletes made the Dean's List, and one earned President's List recognition.
- Women's Golf saw 67% of the team make either the President's List or Dean's List, with four Dean's List honorees and two President's List recipients.
- Women's Track & Field achieved academic excellence for the seventh consecutive semester above a 3.5 semester GPA (3.549) and recorded the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.574). The team placed 21 student-athletes on the Dean's List and five on the President's List.
- Wrestling placed 18 student-athletes on Dean's or President's Lists, with 69% of the team at a 3.0 or higher semester GPA. Two earned President's List honors, and 16 made the Dean's List.
