KENT, OHIO- The Kent State men's basketball team earned a trio of academic honors as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Justyn Hamilton and Malique Jacobs were named to the NABC Honors Court while the men's basketball team earned the NABC's Team Academic Excellence award.
In order to be eligible for the honors court, a player must be in good standing and academically in their junior or senior year. Additionally, they must carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher and have spent at least one year at their institution. Both Hamilton and Jacobs are thriving as educational studies majors and Hamilton is also working towards a degree in sports administration.
The Team Academic Excellence Award caps off a tremendous year in the classroom for the Golden Flashes. In order to be eligible, a program must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the previous season. The Golden Flashes did just that, closing the year in record-setting fashion. This past spring was the highest term GPA in program history.
