Flashes Surprise Alum in Big Day Celebration

KENT, OHIO- The Kent State Athletic Department surprised Kristen Caipen, Speech and Language Pathologist at Davey Elementary School, with a $1,000 gift card as part of the "Big Day" celebration through the College Football Playoff's Extra Yard for Teachers program.
Caipen is a two-time Kent State University Graduate, where she earned her bachelors in Speech and Language Pathology in 2008 and a Masters in 2009. Â
The Big Day celebration supports and recognizes teachers and thanks them for their continued essential service. Kent State is one of over 150 schools, conferences and organizations who are recognizing teachers and educators that have a direct impact on the school or conference's local community. Over $4 million dollars in grants and direct aid are being awarded to teachers and educators across the country.
Fans are encouraged to also take part in the Big Day celebration by going on social media thanking a teacher or educator that has had a positive impact on their life by using the hashtag #BigDayForTeachers.
