COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Kent State football team (1-3) concluded its non-conference schedule with a 37-16 defeat at the hands of Maryland (4-0) on Saturday afternoon at Capitol One Field at Maryland Stadium.
The Golden Flashes started the day off right with a Keith Sherald Jr. interception that led to the first of three Andrew Glass field goals on the afternoon. Glass' 35-yard kick gave the Flashes a 3-0 lead, the only of the day.
Maryland quickly answered with a 33-yard strike from Taulia Tagovailoa to Dontay Demus. The Tagovailoa to Demus connection was working for the Terps as the pair linked up four times for 108 yards and a score.
Tagovailoa and company controlled the entire game, holding Kent State to just three field goals through three quarters.
Dustin Crum connected with Dante Cephas in the fourth quarter to spark some hope for the Flashes with the team's only touchdown of the day.
Cephas led the team with a career high 10 catches and 151 yards along with the score. Crum finished the day 19-for-33 passing with 308 yards and a touchdown.
Kent State will return to Dix Stadium for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 2, against Bowling Green. Kick is set for 3:30 p.m.
