
Volleyball Falls to Seton Hall

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Kent State finished action at the Fairfield Invitational by losing to Seton Hall, 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 16-25), on Saturday.
The Golden Flashes (3-4) allowed the Pirates to hit .271 as team, the highest hitting percentage by an opponent this season, while totaling a season-low 30 kills on offense. Junior Savannah Matthews had a team-high eight kills and freshman Ainsley Guse added six. Redshirt senior Alex Haffner registered 23 assists.
Kent State had another productive blocking performance with eight. Senior Danie Tyson led the way with four stuffs. Sophomore Bryn Roberts had a team-high 16 digs.
The Flashes' best chance at taking a set came in the second, which had 11 ties and three lead changes. After falling behind by five early, a service run by Bryn Roberts gave Kent State a 10-8 lead. Seton Hall went back ahead 13-12 and never relinquished the lead. Kills by Ainsley Guse and Taylor Heberle on consecutive points tied it at 23-23, but the Pirates won back-to-back points after calling timeout to take a 2-0 lead.
Kent State will make its final road trip of the month next week when it plays at the Kansas Invitational.
