BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Kent State men's basketball team (9-9, 4-4 MAC) fell to Buffalo (10-6, 4-2 MAC) on the road Friday night inside Alumni Arena.
The Bulls fired out of the gate and took an early 27-13 before the Flashes fought back and cut it to 10 just before the break.
VonCameron Davis made a three-pointer and got an early steal to start the second half to fire up the Flashes' bench. Buffalo then pushed the lead up to 15 points, their largest of the game, with 15:12 left to play.
Despite the double-digit deficit, Kent State willed its way back to within five with just under four minutes on the clock. After a Buffalo bucket to extend the lead to seven with 3:45 to play, neither team could score over the next three minutes.
The Flashes had several good looks, but the shots did not fall and Jeenathan Williams hit the dagger three-pointer with 56 seconds left. Williams finished with a game-high 25 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
The Golden Flashes were led in scoring Tervell Beck who scored 11 points, while Jalen Sullinger added 10 points. Buffalo outscored Kent State 36-26 in the paint and 18-4 in transition.
