KENT- Kent State wide receiver Dante Cephas has been named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Offensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance in the win against Ohio.
Cephas set a program-record with 13 receptions and 246 yards, breaking a record set by Eugene Baker in 1997. Cephas had a monster second half, catching 14 balls for 230 yards after halftime. Both his catches and yards are FBS highs so far this season. Cephas had a well-rounded game with a 29-yard touchdown pass along the far sideline and 129 yards after catch. He and fellow wide out Devontez Walker became the first 200-yard/100-yard single game tandem in school history with Walker grabbing six passes for 107 yards.
The win moves the Flashes to 2-3 overall on the season and more importantly, 1-0 in MAC play. Ohio falls to 2-3 and is 0-1 in conference. The Flashes hit the road for the next two weekends of MAC play. Next up is a trip to Oxford to take on the Miami Red Hawks. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
