
Flashes Celebrate Successful Homecoming Weekend

KENT-Generations of alumni made the trip back to Kent, Ohio last weekend for Homecoming 2022, marking milestones and making memories.
The weekend kicked off with a downtown Kent reception followed by a fireworks display. On Saturday morning, the annual Homecoming parade rolled through downtown Kent. Â The parade was led by 37 former female student-athletes, representing each of the women's sports teams, who served as this year's Grand Marshals, in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX.
Kent State athletic teams also participated in the parade. Quintin Cooks, a member of the Men's Track and Field and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Vice President, was among the many nominees representing campus named to the 2022 Homecoming Court. Quintin received lots of cheers by the crowd and was announced as this year's Royalty winner during halftime at the football game!Â
Flash Nation tailgate was host to over 650 participants pre-game, but the biggest party of the day was at the Varsity "K" all-sport reunion, which included over 250 former student-athletes. They combined with over 20,000 fans packed Dix Stadium who packed Dix Stadium and saw the Golden Flashes defeat the Bobcats, 31-24, in an exciting overtime win.
Women's Soccer alumni also had a strong presence and came together to celebrate their program's Milestones and Memories. Over 50 returned to Kent State to celebrate 25 years of Kent State Women's Soccer, along with 40 former men's soccer alumni back to celebrate their all-decades team. Both groups were in attendance on Sunday to support the women's team as they played the Toledo Rockets to a 2-2 tie.
