KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team is set to host its annual Blue and Gold meet on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Athletic Convocation Center.
Admission is free for everyone. Following the meet, the Golden Flashes will be signing autographs for all fans in attendance.
Golden Flashes Overview
The four Golden Flashes that earned a spot in the NCAA Regionals last March – Rachel DeCavitch, Karlie Franz, Alyssa Guns, and Sarah Haxton – will all return this season and will look to lead Kent State to a team postseason berth.
The Flashes also welcome six newcomers to the squad this year – Avery Compson, Emma Masse, Zoe Rankin, Nastia Rudnitskaya, and Heidi Schultz.
This year's Blue team will be captained by Rudnitskaya, and will feature DeCavitch, Guns, Rankin, Masse, Olivia Rapp, Olivia Amodei, Izzy Geig, Cheyenne Pratola, Kyndall Gilbert, and Taylor Wentland. Schultz will captain the Gold team, which will be made up of Franz, Haxton, Bowen, Compson, Cami Klein, Grace Wehry, Kennedy Weinpert, Brynne Tsipis, Keely Young, and Dakota Lee.
Flashback to Last Year's Blue-Gold Meet
Last season, the Gold team came out victorious in the yearly showcase event. DeCavitch won the all-around competition while Amodei finished second. Wehry placed first on vault in her first-ever competition in the M.A.C. Center, while then-sophomores Gilbert and Haxton won on bars and floor, respectively.

Kent State will have over a month to prepare for the first regular season meet of the 2023 campaign. The season will officially kick off on January 13 when the Flashes travel to Morgantown, W.Va, for the West Virigina Tri-Meet.
