Flashes Drop Home Finale to Chips

KENT, OHIO- Â Brendon Fenton, Kody Komara and Tyler Bates each picked up solid victories but it would not be enough in a setback to Central Michigan in the Flashes' home finale of the 2021-22 season.
An instant classic started off Sunday's dual as Brock Bergelin narrowly edged Jake Ferri 8-7. Ferri stormed back with a flurry of takedowns in the third period and tied the bout at seven. However, Bergelin had built up a riding time advantage and that proved to be the difference in the opening bout.
Brendon Fenton tied things up with a 7-3 victory over Ja'Kerion Merrit. Fenton used a takedown and a reversal to take the early lead and had built up over two minutes of riding time in a convincing victory. After Central picked up a major decision at 141, Kody Komara earned a strong 7-3 win over Corbyn Munson. Komara used a trio of takedowns and gained an early lead that he would not relinquish. Central would take the next four bouts before Tyler Bates used a take down in a 3-1 low-scoring win over Cade Dallwitz.
The Flashes hit the road for the final two duals of the year. Next Friday, they head east to take on Bloomsburg in a MAC dual. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
