Flashes Host Eastern Michigan, Ohio State for Senior Day

KENT, Ohio - On Sunday, the Kent State gymnastics team hosts Eastern Michigan and Ohio State for its 2022 Senior Day. The Golden Flashes will honor six gymnasts who've all spent the past four years in a Kent State uniform: Riley Danielson, Samantha Henry, Madison Iannuzzo, Cami Klein, Kendra Lindway, and Madison Trott.
About the Flashes
Kent State enters the meet off the heels of their highest-scoring meet of the season on Friday at Ohio State, scoring 196.375. The meet was highlighted by the Flashes' highest beam score of the season at 49.225, with three Flashes posting scores of at least 9.850 on the event. Senior Riley Danielson and junior Rachel DeCavitch tied for first place on the event amongst Kent State participants and second place amongst all gymnasts with scores of 9.875. This was a personal record for Danielson.
Additionally, sophomore Sarah Haxton posted a personal record on bars at 9.900, and Rachel DeCavitch got a season-high all-around score of 39.325.
Kent State is now ranked 41st in the country and third in the MAC with an NQS of 195.315.
About the Eagles
Eastern Michigan is currently ranked 51st in the country and sixth in the MAC, possessing a 194.235 NQS. In their last meet, they lost to Bowling Green and Western Michigan last Saturday, posting a score of 190.175.
Raisa Boris came in first on bars on the team in that meet with a score of 9.825, and on beam with a score of 9.850. Her all-around score was 39.025, a career-high for her.
The last time the Flashes and Eagles faced off earlier this season in the George Washington Quad, Kent State came out on top of Eastern Michigan, 195.600-195.200.
About the Buckeyes
Ohio State's last contest was the same as Kent State's, coming on Friday night in Columbus. The Buckeyes were able to edge out the Flashes in that one, scoring 196.575 to Kent State's 196.375, but not because they necessarily fared exceptionally well on any one event. Ohio State spread out their scores, registering 48.925 on vault, 49.075 on bars, 49.150 on beam, and 49.425 on floor. The highest any Buckeye scored on any event was on bars, when Elexis Edwards and Colby Miller each posted scores of 9.925.
Ohio State has an NQS of 196.365 and is ranked 18th in the country.
