KENT, OHIO- A pair of Golden Flashes have signed free agency deals coming out of the 2022 NFL Draft with quarterback Dustin Crum signing with the Kansas City Chiefs and wide receiver Keshunn Abram signing with the New York Jets.
Crum exits Kent State as one of the most decorated players in program history. He became the second Golden Flash to win the coveted Vern Smith Leadership Award as the Mid-American Conference's most valuable player. This season, he became the first Kent State quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards in his career and is one of two players to cross 9,000 yards of total offense in his career (7,420 passing, 2071 yards rushing), joining Josh Cribbs. He is one of two Kent State quarterbacks to toss at least 50 touchdown passes, finishing his career with 55. The next stage in Crum's football career takes him to a similar high-octane offense, the Chiefs led the AFC in total offense and scoring last season.Â
Keshunn Abram was one of Crum's most trusted targets in the 2022 season. Abram finished the season with 47 grabs for 699 yards and three touchdowns and caught at least one pass in each of the 14 games this season. He had 138 yards and a score to lead the Golden Flashes at Iowa this season, then matched those exact totals in the East Division clinching win over Miami. Abram enjoyed a stellar pro day inside the Kent State Field House and will be part of a re-vamped New York Jets offense under new head coach Robert Saleh.
Season tickets are on sale now for the 2022 football season. Kent State is coming off the second MAC East Division title in program history and the first since 2012. The #FlashFAST offense set numerous records last season and ranked in the top-10 nationally in total offense and rushing offense. The attacking defense matched the offense among the nation's elite, ranking in the top-10 in forced turnovers and interceptions.
The Golden Flashes five game home slate starts with the home opener against Long Island University on Saturday, September 17th and is highlighted by the annual Wagon Wheel rivalry on Saturday, October 22nd. The season ticket package also includes games against Ohio University (Saturday, October 1st), Ball State (Tuesday, November 1st) and Eastern Michigan (Wednesday, November 16th).
