McNamara Named Conference Player of the Week

KENT, OHIO- Golden Flashes' shortstop Michael McNamara has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, for his efforts in the weekend series against Western Michigan.
McNamara played in three of the four games over the weekend, all Kent State victories. The Cleveland native raked in all three contests, totaling a 10-for-14 effort at the plate.
On Friday, the shortstop cracked a pair of homers and drove in six to lead Kent State to a series opening victory. He followed that performance up with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate in the first game of the Saturday double header. He helped spark a comeback in the nightcap on Saturday, driving in three more runs in a 17-11 victory. In the three contests, McNamara drove in 11 runs and scored three more.
Thanks to his outburst, McNamara is now second on the team in average (.343), homers (11) and runs driven in (39). McNamara and the Golden Flashes wrap up the regular season with five games at Schoonover Stadium this week. The week starts on Tuesday night as the Flashes welcome in former skipper Danny Hall and his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
