Student Athletes Set Multiple Records in Spring Semester

KENT, Ohio – Kent State student-athletes finishes off another impressive semester in the classroom as the department posted the third-highest spring term GPA in recorded history and the highest in tradiational grading periods.Â
The Golden Flashes posted a term GPA of 3.263 and a department cumulative GPA of 3.306. This is the 21st-consecutive term of 3.0+ cumulative department GPA and the 20th-consecutive 3.0+ term GPA.Â
"We couldn't be prouder of our student-athletes for their resilience over the past few years," said Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics Angie Hull. "In only their second term returning to normal grading and classroom settings, they shattered multiple department academic records. The support system of athletic academic staff, coaches and administrators continue to live Kent State's student-first approach and these numbers are evidence of those efforts."
Nine different teams have both their term and cumulative GPA above a 3.4, while 51 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. Throughout the department, 287 students posted a term GPA of 3.0 or higher.Â
Kent State Soccer posted its highest team term GPA with a 3.664 which is good for the third-highest term GPA in program history. The Softball team recorded a 3.631 term GPA with 77 percent of the team achieving a GPA of 3.4 or higher.Â
The Football program posted its highest cumulative GPA and highest spring term GPA in program history. Gymnastics recorded its ninth-straight semester of a 3.5 team GPA or better, while Lacrosse posted its eighth-straight semester with a team GPA of 3.3 or higher.Â
The Golden Flashes graduated 90 student-athletes with a 90 percent placement rate. More than half of the graduating student-athletes will continue their education in post-graduate education programs.
