KENT, Ohio — Former Kent State women's basketball student-athlete Paige Salisbury has been hired as Director of Basketball Operations, head coach Todd Starkey announced on Tuesday.
Salisbury, who played for the Golden Flashes during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, makes her return following three seasons on the coaching staff at Lake Erie. She joined the Storm as a graduate assistant in 2019 and was promoted to assistant coach in 2020.
"We are excited to welcome Paige back as a member of our staff," Starkey said. "The opportunity to hire a former student-athlete really adds to the family culture of our program. Paige returns with a variety of experiences during her time as a coach at the Division II level that will add instant value in this administrative role."
She originally arrived in Kent as an incoming freshman during Summer 2015 along with assistant coach Alexa Golden. Salisbury saw action in 46 games and made 12 starts during the next two seasons and was a member of Starkey's first team that won the Mid-American Conference East Division championship and earned a WNIT appearance in 2017. She was an Academic All-MAC honoree in 2017.
Salisbury then transferred to Ursuline College, where she led the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio in back-to-back-seasons. She was among the NCAA Division II leaders during the 2017-18 season and ranked ninth (2.47), while also finishing 13th in minutes per game (36.55). Salisbury played in 57 games over two seasons and posted averages of 8.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. She was named to the Academic All-GMAC Team as a senior. Following her final season on the hardwood, she joined the Arrows' softball program and earned All-GMAC Second Team honors.
The Northeast Ohio native was a four-year letterwinner at Brunswick High School, where she set the school record for most games played and was a two-time All-Ohio selection.
Salisbury earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Mathematics from Ursuline in 2019. She then completed her MBA from Lake Erie in 2021.
