KENT, Ohio – Fifth-year Brenna Brownfield started her final weekend in a Kent State uniform with a clutch two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Golden Flashes to a 3-1 win in the opening game of a doubleheader against Bowling Green on Saturday at the Diamond at Dix. The visiting Falcons hit three home runs in the second game, evening the series with a 6-2 victory.
Kent State (19-28, 10-17 MAC) were led offensively by senior Sabrina Kerschner, who had three hits on the day.
Sophomore Jessica LeBeau shut the Falcons out over the final six innings and allowed just two additional hits. In the second game, LeBeau homered and scored both of the Flashes' runs.

It remained tied heading to the bottom of the sixth. With one out in the frame, Emily Lippe was hit by a pitch for the second time and Brenna Brownfield lined a shot over the fence in left field two batters later for her second home run of the season to put Kent State ahead 3-1.
