
Ba Repeats First Team Performance at MAC Cross Country Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Junior Baidy Ba placed fourth in the men's 8K race to lead Kent State at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Ba crossed the finish line in 24:12.1 to earn back-to-back All-MAC First Team honors. He is the first Golden Flash to accomplish this since Michael Heller in 2011 and 2012, and his fourth-place showing is the best since Heller finished third in 2012.
The men finished sixth in the team standings and had four runners place in the top-50. Senior Ethan Yost (25:06.5) and sophomore Dylan McBride (25:11.6) placed 27th and 28th, respectively. Senior Jacob Mirabell finished the race in 25:32.9 for 44th place.
Kent State finished 12th in the women's 6K race. Junior Ariana Manos was the first Flash across the finish line, placing 62nd in 22:35.6. Junior Sydney Gallagher clocked a time of 22:41.5 for 65th and freshman Ella McCollom took 70th with a personal-best time of 22:50.5.
The Flashes will return to action at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 10. The meet will be held at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
