Kent, OH - The Flashes bounced back dominating Shawnee State 103-61.
With a brand new starting lineup that included LA Hayes, VonCameron Davis, and Delrecco Gillespie, the Flashes were able to ease past the Bears. LA Hayes and Delrecco Gillespie had their first collegiate start and did not disappoint. To start the first half, the Flashes came out strong with an electrifying dunk from Chris Payton Jr. Kent State dominated in all aspects of the game racking up rebounds, assistants, and steals. The Golden Flashes shot 40% from the three-point line, including a three-point buzzer-beater from Brendon Moss to end the first half.
Brenden Moss was one of many players who showed Kent State's depth coming off the bench with a career-high 19 points and three rebounds. Moss shot nearly perfect in all three categories 6-of-8 from the field, 5-of-6 from the three, and perfect from the charity stripe. His freshman teammate, LA Hayes, made himself known against the Bears and rounded out the night with nine points, four steals, and four assists.
Moss and Hayes were not the only Flashes that made an impact on the court. Chris Payton Jr. recorded 14 points, three steals, and four rebounds while his junior teammate VonCameron Davis contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals to capture the Flashes' victory.
As the second half began Kent State did not lead up continuing their hot streak at the three-point line. The Flashes recorded 100+ points for the third time this season. Shawnee State began applying pressure in hopes of closing the gap, but Flashes kept their composure and continued to control the rest of the game, clinching the win.
Coach Senderoff was pleased with the players who showed up tonight "We had a lot of guys step in and play well. We have to get better and continue to figure out roles. We were able to get guys minutes who usually don't receive minutes."
