Flashes Capture Road Win Against South Dakota State

Brookings, SD - The Flashes captured their first true road game victory against South Dakota State 82-73 inside Frost Arena.
The Flashes came out strong outshooting the Jackrabbits 50 percent to 33.3 percent from the field and 50 percent to 14.3 percent from the three. VonCameron Davis helped the Flashes take the lead with two back-to-back threes recording double digits in the first half. The Flashes were getting boards and transitioning fast. The Flashes collected 21 boards in the first half and 13 points off of turnovers. Tyem Freeman came off the bench shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the three to help the Flashes lead 41-27 at the half.
Despite the Flashes being up by double-digits going in the final half, the Jackrabbits were not letting up. The Jackrabbits outscored the Flashes 46-41 in the final 20 minutes. The Flashes battled fouls and struggled to get rebounds. Charley Easley took advantage of every shot in the second half recording double-digits and went 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-7 from the three. Jalen Sullinger recorded 12 points in the second half, while Giovanni Santiago recorded 13 points to lead the Flashes to an 82-73 win.
Giovanni Santiago led the game with a season-high 19 points and added four assists while Jalen Sullinger recorded 17 points. VonCameron Davis and Chris Payton Jr. also recorded double-digits to help the Flashes seal the win.

Next up, the Golden Flashes will return home to host Cleveland State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's game will match the team's Coaches vs. Cancer game, and have teamed up with Cleveland Hope Lodge.
