Flashes Team Up With Cleveland Hope Lodge

KENT, Ohio - Kent State men's basketball has teamed up with the Cleveland Hope Lodge, setting up the M.A.C.C. as a donation drop-off location for the Lodge's Wish List items this holiday season.
Fans are encouraged to drop off items at collection bins located in the main lobby of the M.A.C.C. through December 15, fans will have a prime opportunity to donate when the Golden Flashes host Cleveland State University on Saturday, December 9. Â Â
The Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free, temporary place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Hope Lodge provides a nurturing home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others.
Every Hope Lodge offers a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease. The Cleveland Hope Lodge has 31 private suites, a community kitchen, dining and living room, and is open 365 days a year for adult cancer patients and caregivers.
The collaboration began with the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer initiative which takes place the third week in January each year where coaches across the country participate in the Suits and Sneakers game. Wanting to do more locally, the team selected Cleveland Hope Lodge to support by working to collect much needed supplies that will allow the organization to continue to serve its patients and families.
"I'm glad we are partnering with Coach Versus Cancer and Hope Lodge," Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Senderoff said. "Cancer is a disease that has impacted almost all of our lives to some degree and to be able to give back in this way around the holiday season is especially meaningful."
Members of the men's basketball team will drop off the donated items to Hope Lodge and meet with staff at a date to be determined.
