
Flashes Ink 17 in February Signing Period

KENT, OH- The Kent State Golden Flashes, under the direction of head coach Kenni Burns, have signed 17 student-athletes during the February signing period for the upcoming 2023 season.

Matthew Beyer | OL| 6-3 295 | Mulvane, KS | Butler CC
Named to the All-Conference team for the Butler Grizzlies. Saw time at four of the five positions on the offensive line….Helped Grizzlies to an 8-4 record in 2022 and helped the Grizzlies' offense average nearly 35 points per game.
Mattheus Carroll | DL | 6-5 244 | Baltimore, MD | Virginia Tech
Appeared in three games for the Hokies, making a pair of tackles.
Played defensive end and was team captain at Gilman High School in Baltimore. Went 2-0 in shortened 2020 season and was named All-MIAA and the "Super 33" Team by the Baltimore Touchdown Club…Recorded 11 sacks as a junior…Earned All-America honors as a wrestler
Son of Monica and Maurice Carroll, Sr., a former Fort Hays State basketball player…Majored in sports media and analytics at Virginia Tech.
Dallas Craddieth | DB | 5-11 207 | Saint Louis, MO | Iowa
Appeared in 12 games for the Hawkeyes…Recorded three tackles during his career, including a solo stop against Minnesota in 2022
Named conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and earned first-team all-state honors…Named second-team all-state as a sophomore and junior…Played on both sides of the ball in high school…Recorded 66 tackles as senior with a sack and served as team captain.
Son of Keyisha Watson…Graduated from Iowa with a degree in enterprise leadership…Earned Academic All Big-10 honors.
Curtis Douglas | RB | 6-0 | 200 | Lake Worth, FL | Santaluces Community
Versatile running back for the Chiefs, helping them to a 8-3 record in 2022. Led the team in rushing as a senior and averaged over seven yards per carry. Added another 14 catches out of the backfield for nearly 200 yards. Totaled nearly 1,000 all-purpose yards as a senior.
Javier Duran | DL | 6-4 280 | Jackson, NJ | Tarleton State
Named all WAC in 2021 and pre-season all-WAC in 2022…Played two seasons for Texans, appearing in 19 games…Recorded 43 tackles including 20 solo stops, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a pass deflection
Played in six games for Independence Community College…Recorded a sack amongst his eight tackles…Named Defensive MVP for Jackson Liberty High School

Treymon Echols | WR | 6-1 200| Shawnee Mission, KS | Hutchinson CC
Played at Hutchinson Community College in 2022...Helped the Blue Dragons reach the NJCAA national title game...Averaged over 14 yards per reception in 11 games...Suited up for Butler Community College prior to Hutchinson...Grabbed 24 passes for 239 yards and a score in 11 games...Also averaged over 21 yards per return.
Ali Fisher | WR | 6-1 185| Belleville, MI | Buffalo
Spent two years with the Buffalo Bulls but did not see any game action. Played wide receiver at Pioneer High School…Earned All-State and First-Team All-Conference honors...Named the Ann Arbor Area Offensive Player of the Year as a senior... Had 57 receptions for 874 yards and nine touchdowns his junior season… Also had 33 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception as a defensive back
Nicholas Giacolone | LB | 6-3 225 | Venice, FL | New Mexico State
Appeared in 23 games across three seasons for the Aggies… Recorded 80 tackles including 36 solo and 3.5 for loss...Credited with an interception, two pass deflections, forced fumble and fumble recovery during his three-year career
Helped Venice reach the state semifinals as a senior, posting a 12-2 record…Led the team with 168 tackles and nine tackles for loss as a senior…Added two forced fumbles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a sack during the stat-stuffing senior season.Â
Jahzae Kimbrough |ATH| 5-11 185 | Roanoke, VA | Patrick Henry
Lined up at wide receiver, running back and defensive back at Patrick Henry but will play receiver for the Flashes. Helped Patrick Henry to a 8-4 season after recording 689 receiving yards with six touchdowns. As a running back, Kimbrough added 713 yards and found the endzone 16 times.
Jaren Lewis | QB | 6-1 205 | Columbia, MO | Kansas State
Played in four games for the Wildcats in his college career…Completed 12 of 23 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown against a pair of interceptions…Named Academic All-Big 12 in 2021
Played at safety and quarterback for Battle High School…Named second-team All-State as a senior after throwing for 2,895 yards and 25 touchdowns and rushing for 700 yards and 11 scores…Helped Battle reach state semi-finals…Three-time all-district honors at quarterback

Appeared in 39 games for the Tigers over four seasons...Recorded 152 tackles including nine for loss and three sacks...credited with two pass deflections, an interception, a forced fumble and fumble recovery during his time with Missouri
High School: A three-star prospect by both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com and rated as the No. 29 prospect at any position in the state of Michigan … Named PSL All-City as a senior … Earned Cass Tech's Most Valuable Player Award following his senior season … Helped Cass Tech to a 2018 Detroit Public School League Championship with a perfect 9-0 record … Team finished 10-1 on the year, advancing to the second round of the state playoffs … Led by Nicholson, Cass Tech's defense allowed just 8.2 points per game in 2018, posting five shutouts.
Tevin Tucker | DB | 6-1 185| Kannapolis, NC | NW Cabarrus
Had a very productive high school career playing both sides of the ball. Averaged over 16 yards per catch as a receiver but will play defensive back for the Flashes. Named All-State after his senior season. Helped Trojans to a 10-2 record and a run through the North Carolina state playoffs.
Eric Weaver | DL | 6-3 300 | Fort Meade, MD | Virginia Military Institute
Played in 40 games for the Keydets in college career…Totaled 91 tackles including 32 solo, nine tackles for loss and two sacks…Also credited with five pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his career.
Jalani Williams | DB | 6-1 193 | Saint Louis, MO | Missouri
Played in 33 games over parts of four seasons for Tigers…Recorded 43 tackles, 25 solo and two tackles for loss…Credited with six passes defended and an interception in Missouri career.
Named an ESPN Top-300 prospect at #288 coming out of high school…Rated as a top-25 safety by multiple publications…Named first-team All-State and Conference Defensive Player of the Year…Posted 102 tackles, two for loss and a fumble recovery as a senior.
Majored in sport management at Missouri.
Cecil Wilson | OL | 6-4 285 | Lakeville, MN | Lakeville North
Played on both sides of the line for Lakeville North in high school, will play offensive line for the Flashes. Earned the top lineman award from Lakeville North after his senior season. Helped the Panthers to the second round of the state playoffs.
Marcus Winfield | DL | 6-3 250 | Cheltenham, PA | Delaware State
Named All-MEAC in 2021 and pre-season All-MEAC in 2022. Appeared in 23 games across four seasons for the Hornets..totaled 36 tackles including 6.5 for loss, four sacks and a blocked kick.
High School: Two-year varsity letter winner at Cheltenham HS … First Team All-Suburban One Conference defensive and offensive lineman as a senior … All-Southeastern Pa., First Team (DE) All-State Second Team (DE) and First Team Class 5A (DE) selection during senior season … Credited with 86 tackles, four sacks, 17 tackles-for-loss and three pass deflections during senior season.
Personal: Son of Jason and Keita Winfield…Majored in business and finance…father played at Delaware State, grandfather played at Minnesota before playing in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and the World Football League for the Philadelphia Bell.
