KENT- The Golden Flashes ran their win streak to 10 straight and tossed their second shutout of the year in a 7-0 victory over the Lake Erie College Storm on Wednesday afternoon.

Five Kent State pitchers combined on the shutout, allowing only three hits while striking out 14. Aidan Longwell was the most impressive of the bunch, retiring all nine batters he faced including the final seven via the strikeout.

After leaving runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings, the Flashes broke through in the fourth. A pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases for Collin Mathews, who got the easiest run batted in of the day with a four-pitch walk. Longwell followed with a run-scoring ground out to give Kent State a 2-0 lead.

The Flashes would tally two more in the fifth and three in the sixth to break things open. Josh Mrozek hit a sac fly to plate Mack Timbrook while Josh Johnson would score on a wild pitch. In the three run sixth, Johnson singled home a pair and Brody Williams doubled him home.

Peyton Cariaco got the win, tossing two innings of shutout relief on Wednesday and grabs his first win of the season. The win runs the Flashes record to 12-4 on the season and the team's longest win streak since 2012 continues. The loss drops Lake Erie to 1-14 on the year. The Golden Flashes remain home this weekend for a three-game set with the Golden Griffins of Canisius. The weekend slate is scheduled to start on Friday afternoon.
