KENT- Kent State takes a 10-game win streak into a weekend series with the Canisius Golden Griffins.
This weekend series has been adjusted due to the cold weather expected on Saturday and Sunday. The teams will play a double header on Friday starting at one, with a solo game on Monday starting at three.
The Flashes ran their win streak to 10, their longest since 2016, with a 7-0 shutout of Lake Erie College on Wednesday. Aidan Longwell was impressive in his start, retiring all nine batters he faced including the final seven by strikeout. The offense was led by Josh Johnson who had a pair of runs driven in and was one of four players with a multi-hit game in the victory.
Canisius comes into the weekend at 3-8 on the season and come into Kent off a win over Marshall last weekend. Matt Duffy is the reigning MAAC Pitcher of the Week and holds a 1.08 earned run average with 24 strikeouts over 16 innings pitched to lead the staff. He will likely face Ben Cruikshank on Friday in a battle of conference pitchers of the week. Kyle Kush leads the offense with a .324 average and seven rbi but the Griffins are averaging only a tick over three runs per game so far this season.
All three games of the series will be streamed via Box Cast with Tyler Henry and Dan Griffin on the call. The link to the broadcasts and live stats are available on the Kent State baseball page.
