Flashes Fly By Griffins, Run Win Streak to 13

KENT- Eric Chalus tossed five and a third innings of one-run baseball and Aidan Longwell drove in four, helping lead the Flashes to a 11-2 victory over Canisius, running the team's win streak to 13.

The Flashes struck first for the first time in the series, strining together a two-out rally. Longwell flared a single to left to start the rally and three-straight walks followed with Mack Timbrook netting the run batted in. The top of the order came through an inning later with Kyle Jackson, Collin Mathews and Longwell all recording rbi singles in the three-run frame. Longwell wasn't done, he would drive in three more runs on the day to up his season total to a NCAA-leading 40 on the season. Timbrook added a solo homer in the third, a line drive over the left-field wall, as five different Flashes drove in at least one run on Monday.

That would be more than enough for Eric Chalus. The sophomore was excellent on Monday, striking out a season-high seven to move to 2-0 on the season. The lefty scattered four hits over his five-and-a-third innings and walked nobody. Richie Dell, Peyton Cariaco and Mitchell Scott would combine for the final 11 outs on Monday, surrendering only one run on a pair of Golden Griffin hits.

The victory runs the Flashes' record to 15-4 and the nation's third-longest win streak to 13. Canisius falls to 3-11 on the season. Monday's victory starts a busy week for the Flashes, they head to Pitt on Wednesday for an afternoon tilt with the Panthers. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and will air on ACC Network Extra.
