BLOOMINGTON, IN-The Golden Flashes dropped a nail biter on Tuesday night, falling 4-3 to the Indiana Hoosiers on Tuesday night at Kaufman Field.

The Hoosiers scored single tallies in four innings on Tuesday night and that proved to be enough against the Flashes. Indiana scored in each of the first two innings against Benny Roebuck, who took the tough luck loss. After loading the bases with nobody out in the first, the righty was able to hold the Hoosiers to one in the first.

Kent State tied it in the second. It was the Flashes' turn to load the bases with nobody out and tied the game on a run-scoring groundout from Mack Timbrook. The Kent State defense cut down a run in the bottom of the second as a relay from Kyle Jackson to Mack Timbrook to Justin Miknis nabbed a runner at the plate and held Indiana to a single tally in the second.

Indiana would score in two more innings, taking advantage of timely hitting and an error. The Flashes thought they had made it a 3-2 game in the seventh, but Jake Casey's bid for his eighth homer of the year was ruled just foul of the right field pole. An inning later, the Flashes would load the bases thanks to a two-out Justin Miknis walk. Mike McNamara followed with a two-run single to left-center to make it a 4-3 game. The Flashes would get no closer as the Hoosiers got out of the eighth and closed the game out in the ninth.

The loss drops Kent State to 16-8 on the season while Indiana improves to 18-7. The Flashes return to the friendly confines of Schoonover Stadium on Friday night as they open a big three-game series with the Toledo Rockets. First pitch on Friday night is set for 6 p.m.
