Flashes Advance to the SemiFinals of the MAC Tournament

Cleveland, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team (26-6, 16-3 MAC) advances to the semifinals after defeating Northern Illinois 76-57. The Flashes will take on the winner of tonight's contest between Akron and Buffalo. The Flashes will play Friday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. inside Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Friday's contest will be available on CBS Sports Network.
After a regular season loss against NIU the Flashes were ready for redemption. Malique Jacobs came out explosive on both sides of the court recording a game-high nine points and three steals in the opening 20 minutes. Miryne Thomas followed Jacobs' lead recording seven points and a game-high seven rebounds in the first half.
The Flashes continued to dominate the game in the last 20 minutes. Malique Jacobs poured in a game-high 19 points and added four rebounds and three steals. Cli'Ron Hornbeak had an impressive night recording a career-high 16 points. Thomas recorded his third double-double of the season with a game-high 14 rebounds along with ten points.
Overall, the Flashes outshot the Huskies 46.8 percent to 36.7 percent from the field and outrebounded NIU 43-to-29. The Flashes dominated inside the paint recording 42 points and 28 points from the Huskies' turnovers. This was the eighth time this season that the Flashes have defeated their opponent by double-digits.
