
Softball Visits RMU Sunday for Doubleheader

The Kent State softball team will play its final non-conference games of the season on Sunday when it travels to Robert Morris for a doubleheader.
First pitch of the opening game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
About the Flashes
Kent State (8-19) will be playing in its seventh different state this season and is coming off a pair of losses to Central Michigan on Tuesday.
Freshman Bri Despines leads the offense with a .364 batting average and seven doubles while driving in 14 runs. Junior Emily Lippe is tied for fourth in the Mid-American Conference with seven home runs and has a team-best 19 RBIs. Redshirt senior Alexandria Whitmore is batting .381 during her current seven-game hitting streak.
Freshman Macy Irelan (5-7) has recorded 36 strikeouts in a team-high 21 appearances and leads the conference with three saves. Redshirt senior Anilese Kelly (2-8) leads the pitching staff with 53 strikeouts over 79.1 innings and a 4.50 ERA.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials (10-14) are 1-1 at home and 1-3 against MAC opponents this season. Robert Morris has struggled to get the bats going and enters the weekend with a .203 batting average and only one home run.
Charlotte Grover leads the way with a .275 batting average and 15 RBIs. Meadow Sacadura (14) and Avery Winchell (13) are the only other Colonials with double-digit RBIs. Alaina Koutsogiani is the Horizon League leader with 16 stolen bases and has scored a team-high 17 runs.
The pitching staff has a 3.81 ERA and has combined for three shutouts. Dana Vatakis (4-6) leads way with 48 strikeouts in 67.2 innings and a 2.79 ERA.
Series History
Kent State is 18-10 all-time against Robert Morris. The teams are meeting for a for the first time since the Golden Flashes swept a doubleheader at home on April 17, 2019.
On Deck
Kent State is scheduled for its second home series when it hosts Northern Illinois on April 7-8.
