Columbus, OH... The Kent State women's golf team wrapped up the spring portion of their regular season this weekend in an eighth place finish at this year's Big 10 heavy Lady Buckeye Invitational.
"Unfortunately we didn't play up to our potential over the last two days," KSU head coach Casey VanDamme said. "We look forward to a fresh start in our postseason next week."
The Flashes were led by a duo of Hester Sicking and Leon Takagi, who each gained five spots in Sunday's final round, carding identical scores of 72, 74 and 74 to wrap up their events four strokes over par in ties for 20th.
Berta Sanchez wasn't far behind, closing out her weekend inside the top 25 in a tie for 22nd, just four strokes off the pace of her top teammates.
The hosts, and lone ranked team at this year's event came out on top as the Lady Buckeyes held Michigan State and Penn State, the only other teams at or below par, at bay.
Kent State will now turn their attention to the MAC Championships next week in Kalamazoo on April 21st as the Flashes look to capture a 24th consecutive Mid-American Conference title.
