KENT- Kent State used a six-run second to jump out on the Ohio State Buckeyes in a 10-5 victory on Wednesday night in front of a sold out Schoonover Stadium.

The Golden Flashes erased an early 2-0 Buckeye lead with the six-run second. Kent State took advantage of three walks and a balk in addition to three base hits in the inning. Collin Mathews delivered a run-scoring single and Michael McNamara kept his hot bat going with a two-run base hit to left.

Six Golden Flash relievers made the lead hold up. Calvin Bickerstaff got out of a jam in the fourth as part of his scoreless outing and Benny Roebuck did the same an inning later. Roebuck got his fifth win of the season, allowing one hit in 1.2 innings of relief on Wednesday.

Jake Casey added insurance down the stretch. The right fielder tripled in the sixth and coming into score and accounting for two of the three runs in the eighth, starting with a run-scoring single.

Mitchell Scott came into the game in the eight to put out a small fire, then struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 10^th save of the season. The win moves Kent State to 28-12 overall and 16-1 at Schoonover Stadium. Ohio State falls below .500 at 20-21 on the year. Kent State stays at home this weekend, welcoming in the Ohio Bobcats in a clash of two first-place teams in the MAC. First pitch on Friday night is set for 6 p.m.
