
Softball Travels to Bowling Green for Final Road Series

Kent State will play its final road series of the season when it visits Bowling Green for three games this weekend. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 29. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. The teams will then play a single game on Sunday, April 30 at 12 p.m.
About the Flashes
Kent State (14-29, 9-12 MAC) won its second straight Mid-American Conference series by winning two of three games against Buffalo during the week. The Golden Flashes' pitching staff held the Bulls to a .145 batting average and seven runs. Macy Irelan earned both victories in the circle and totaled 22 strikeouts over 13.1 innings. Gabbie Sherman got the start in the series finale and allowed one run on two hits over four innings in her first appearance in nearly two full years. Delaney Robeson drove in four of Kent State's eight runs. Robeson had a career-high three hits, including two home runs, and hit a walk-off blast in the eighth inning to win the second game in the series.
On the season, freshman Bri Despines and redshirt senior Alexandria Whitmore share the team lead with .311 batting averages. Despines also leads the Flashes with 24 runs scored, nine doubles and a .435 on-base percentage. Junior Emily Lippe is tied for fourth in the MAC with 11 home runs and has a team-best 27 RBIs. Sophomore Delaney Robeson adds eight home runs and 25 RBIs, including 16 during conference play.
Freshman Macy Irelan (8-11) has recorded 77 strikeouts in a team-high 34 appearances and is tied for the conference lead with three saves. Redshirt senior Anilese Kelly (5-12) leads the pitching staff with 77 strikeouts over 122.2 innings and a 4.21 ERA.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons (8-36, 1-23 MAC) have scored one or fewer runs 12 times during their current 21-game losing streak. Bowling ranks 10th in the conference with a .214 team batting average and 2.68 runs scored per game.
Sophie Weber leads the Falcons at the plate with a .306 batting average, 10 doubles and 18 RBIs. Peyton Dolejs has scored a team-high 19 runs and driven in 13 runs.
BG's team Era of 6.52 is the highest in the conference. Hannah Davies (1-16) leads the staff with 73 strikeouts and 99 innings pitched. Scarlet Anderson has a team-high five victories.
Series History
Kent State is 76-47-1 all-time against Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes won 17 straight games from 2012-19. Head coach Eric Oakley has gone 15-3 against the Falcons.
