
Kent State Softball Readies for Senior Weekend

The Kent State softball team will recognize its senior student-athletes during this weekend's Mid-American Conference series against Miami as the 2023 season comes to an end at Devine Diamond.
First pitch of the series opener on Friday is scheduled for 3 p.m. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 29. Morgan Bowers, Jada Crittendon, Anilese Kelly and Jade Ramer will be honored for their contributions to the Golden Flashes' program following the doubleheader.
About the Flashes
Kent State (17-29, 12-12 MAC) swept its first straight Mid-American Conference opponent last weekend, outscoring Bowling Green 32-9 over the three contests. The Golden Flashes have won three consecutive series and seven of their last nine games overall.
Scouting Miami
The RedHawks (32-17, 19-7 MAC) enter in a tie with Ohio atop the MAC standings, having won eight of their last nine games. Miami's lineup is one of the most powerful in the country and ranks third in home runs (82) and fourth in slugging percentage (.583). The RedHawks score a MAC-best average of 5.94 runs per game.
Series History
Kent State is 54-67 all-time against Miami. The RedHawks have won four of the last five matchups. Six of the last nine games have been decided by a single run. Head coach Eric Oakley has gone 4-15 against the RedHawks.
