
Golden Flashes Announce Staff Promotions and Updates

KENT- Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Randale L. Richmond has announced an organizational update with a series of promotions and a realignment of sport oversight for the Athletic Department.
"These promotions recognize the work done by our very talented staff and continues to reinforce our strong organizational culture. All we've accomplished, we've accomplished together and that's what makes us a special team," Richmond said. "Additionally, this realignment helps to ensure that we continue to be student-athlete centered, coach led, and administration supported."
Executive Team Updates
Greg Glaus has been promoted to Executive Deputy Athletics Director. In this role, he will oversee department operations and also provide division leadership in the absence of the Vice President, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Glaus also provides leadership of business & finance, facilities & operations, NCAA compliance, and the comprehensive sport supervision program. In his role, Glaus leads the implementation of the Play As One Strategic Plan initiative, department level contracts, capital projects and serves as the sport administrator with the football and gymnastics programs.
Suzette McQueen has been promoted to Deputy Athletics Director. In this role, McQueen provides leadership for all external units, Marketing, Advancement, Tickets, Licensing, MMR, and serves as the department's Senior Woman Administrator. McQueen serves as the men's basketball, women's basketball and women's lacrosse program sport administrator and was recently appointed to the NCAA Division-I Women's Lacrosse sport committee.
Jessie Ely has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director, Athletics Chief of Staff. In this role, she serves as the department's liaison to human resources and coordination with the President and Cabinet. Ely also oversees the department's organizational planning and communications as along with long range departmental strategic initiatives. Ely will serve as the secondary sport administrator with the football program.
Sport Administration Updates
New Senior Associate Athletics Director Kelly Jean Brock will add sport oversight of women's soccer and the men's and women's cross-country and track and field programs.
Associate Athletic Director Maggie McKendry will provide oversight for the cheer and dance programs.
Associate Athletic Directors David Rush and Phil Tizio will combine forces to provide sport oversight for field hockey and wrestling. Rush will have primary oversight over field hockey while serving as the secondary contact for wrestling. Tizio will serve as the primary for wrestling and as the secondary contact for field hockey.
This organizational restructuring aligns with the Kent State Play as One Strategic Plan that was unveiled in the fall of 2021 and updated in the fall of 2022. This plan will help ensure the department to have a meaningful impact on student-athletes, campus, and community. Every detail supports the department's mission: "GRADUATE student-athletes, BOLDLY prepared for life after sport, and WIN championships." The plan also aligns with the department's vision to be "A nationally recognized comprehensive athletics program that INSPIRES communities and TRANSFORMS lives."
