
Kent State Game Day: Central Connecticut: What You Need To Know

KENT ย โ On Saturday, September 16, your Golden Flashes will host the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils in the home opener of the Kent GRIT era!
Kick-off is at noon but the festivities are all day long!
FIRST HOME GAME 5K
Fans can start the day at the First Home Game 5k! Registration is still open for the run/walk that starts in downtown Kent and ends at Dix Stadium! Registration and packet pick-up starts at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. A tailgate celebration and awards ceremony will take place at the finish line at Dix Stadium at 10:30 a.m. The tailgate and post-race festivities will be open to all fans and leads straight into the Golden Flashes' home opener against the Central Connecticut State at 12 p.m.
Registration for the 5K is $10 for all Kent State students and $20 for non-students and includes a ticket to the home opener. The first 200 people to register for the race will receive a free replica Kent State football jersey at sign-in. Prizes for participants will be awarded at the finish line, with a free Trek Bike donated by Anheuser Busch going to the winner of the race.ย

GET YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE
Purchasing tickets in advance offers savings off both general admission and chairback seating. Fans can skip the line and purchase their digital tickets. Tickets are $15 dollars for general admission and $25 dollars for chairback seating and can be purchased at KSUTix.com.

- ROAD CLOSURES FOR FOOTBALL GAMES:
- Powder Mill Road is CLOSED to Summit Street One Hour Before Kick
- Right turn ONLY from Cline Road to Summit Street on game days
- Summit Street MAY BE CLOSED at Cline Road 1 - 2 Hours Before Kick
- Parking in the Dix Stadium east and west lots are accessible via permit or by paying $10 for cars, $20 for RVs and over-sized vehicles on game day (cash only)
- Parking spaces are available on the day of the game on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Free parking is available in the lots on Summit Street west of Route 261. Shuttle service is available from those lots. Please see the bus route link above
- Stadium parking lots open three hours prior to game time.
- Residence hall students are encouraged to use the free shuttle service. There will be a convenient pick-up point in front of the Student Center
- Drive lanes in parking lots must be maintained at all times.
- Parking permit holders are responsible for the functions they host in their parking spaces.
- Be prepared for road closures and alternative driving routes on game day
- Tailgating activities should not take up vacant parking spaces or interfere with traffic flow within Stadium parking lots.

TAILGATING RULES AND INFO
- Stadium parking lots open three hours prior to game time.
- All tailgating activities in the Dix Stadium parking areas are subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio and Kent State University policy.
- Tailgate hosts are responsible for their functions and guests.
- Charcoal grills are encouraged for tailgating and can be disposed of in the indicated red trash cans in the tailgating areas.
- Propane tanks, glass, and kegs are not permitted in stadium lots.
- Tailgating activities should not take up vacant parking spaces or interfere with traffic flow within Stadium parking lots.
TAILGATING FESTIVITIES
- Stadium parking lots open three hours prior to game time with festivities starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday
- DJ Smillz will be providing music throughout the morning to get you ready for kickoff
- El Patron will have a food truck on site with breakfast burritos and tacos for sale
- Get some swings in at the golf simulator provided by Big Shots Golf
- Stop by the Raising Cane's tent and spin the prize wheel for the chance to win sunglasses, lip balm, key chain, pens and lanyard
- All tailgating activities in the Dix Stadium parking areas are subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio and Kent State University policy.
GRIT Walk
- The team will arrive at Dix Stadium approximately two hours and fifteen minutes before kick-off (ex: 9:45 am for a noon kick)
- Fans are encouraged to line up along the bus lane outside of Dix Stadium
- Join the Marching Golden Flashes and spirit squads as we welcome the team into the Stadium on game day

GAME DAY THEMES AND GIVEAWAYS
- Kent State will honor the 2023 Varsity K Hall of Fame class during a halftime recognition
- Saturday is Military Appreciation Day and First Responders Day
- The first 2500 fans will receive a Kent State clear bag
- Saturday is also Greek Day as the Flashes celebrate Kent State Greek Life
- The first 800 students get a replica Kent State football jersey
- Get here early to claim your giveaways, gates open at 10:30 a.m.
- Enjoy a flag display as you walk in the west entrance of Dix Stadium, over 100 American flags will be on display courtesy of Operation Flags of Freedom
- Saturday is also Future Flashes Kid's Day, families are encouraged to sign up for our kid's club
- Check out our Kid's Zone inside of Dix Stadium, it features a bounce house, an inflatable target practice game and a flight simulator courtesy of the Marines
GAME DAY CONCESSIONS
- Concessions are available on the west side of Dix Stadium with stands located towards both the north and the south end zone.
- Fans can also visit the concession stand behind the east stands and the hall of fame plaza behind the south end zone.
- Concessions are cashless at Dix Stadium.
- Alcohol is available to purchase and consume in the stadium for fans 21 years of age or older with a valid photo ID.
- Alcohol will not be allowed into or out of the stadium
- Alcohol sales will start when gates open, 90 minutes before kick-off and will stop after the third quarter
