Flashes to Face Buffalo Thursday

Kent, Ohio- The Kent State soccer team will travel to Buffalo for a battle with the Bulls. The match is currently set to kick off at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on YouTube.
Last Time Out
Kent State (6-5-2, 3-3-1 MAC) stop a two-game skid against Mid-American Conference foes while the Chippewas (4-6-4, 2-4-1 MAC) have now dropped back-to-back games in conference opponents.
The Flashes got on the board in the second minute of the game when Siena Stambolich took a corner kick that found the head of Kelsey Salopek at the back post. The goal is Salopek's second of the year and ties her total from the 2023 campaign.
The Chippewas would answer back 10 minutes later with an outside the box strikle from Jaylyn Dobrowolski. The game would stay level going into the halftime break, Kent State held the lead in shots on goal three to one.
Much like the first half the Flashes got on the board quickly in the second 45 minutes. Kent State regained possession in the midfield with Stambolich who played a beautiful long through ball to up to Jules Dolinski who cut inside at the top of the box, danced around the defender, and curled it around the keeper.
Kent State would make it three in the 62nd minute when they were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. The Flashes gave it to the senior, Stambolich, who put it to the goalkeeper's left and into the back of the net.
The Chippewas tried to mount a comeback scoring a goal in the 79th minute, but the Flashes defense held their own and closed out the game 3-2.
Rising in the Record Book
Alisa Arthur is rising in many categories of the Kent State record book. The senior is now ninth in both goals (22) and points (58) and is knocking on the door of being in the top 10 in assists and shots on goal.
Great Goalkeeping
Goalkeeper Heidi Marshall has been in great form to start MAC play. The senior has played all 630 conference minutes in goal for the Flashes recording 21 saves in the seven games with three shutouts. Marshall has dropped her goals allowed average from 2.0 going into MAC play down to 1.14.
Scouting Buffalo
Buffalo comes in as the current third seed in the MAC standings (9-1-4, 4-1-2 MAC). The Bull's defense has been excellent this year limiting their opposition to just five goals on the year and only two in conference play. Goalkeeper, Lexie Thompson, has played every minute in goal this year for the Bulls tallying 48 saves.
Jasmine Guerber powers the Buffalo attack with nine points, four goals and two assists. Kaya Schultz and Sarah Woods create the opportunities for the Bulls with three assists a piece.
Series History
Thursday will mark the 27th meeting all time between Kent State and Buffalo, with the Flashes holding an edge in the all-time series 14-11-2. The Flashes got the best of the bulls when the two teams clashed last year in Buffalo 2-1. Josie Morgan opened the scoring for the Flashes in the 37th minute, then Arthur scored the winner in the 70th minute to secure the three points.
