OXFORD, Ohio — Kent State lost to first-place Miami, 34-7, in a midweek #MACtion matchup on Wednesday night at Yager Stadium.
The Golden Flashes led 7-0 just 80 seconds in, as Tommy Ulatowski connected with Chrishon McCray on a pass from 11 yards out. The score was setup after Tevin Tucker stripped a RedHawk ball carrier and Josh Baka fell on the ball just outside of the red zone.
Kent State put together two more drives that approached the red zone during the opening period but was unable to come away with points.
The Flashes appeared to score a defensive touchdown late in the fourth quarter when Khalib Johns punched the ball out and Clinton Robinson returned it 68 yards, but an inadvertent whistle brought the ball back to the point of recovery.
Baka and Canaan Williams totaled seven tackles each to share the team lead, while Stephen Daley recorded a pair of sacks. Jaylen Dotson broke up a pair of passes and also drew an offensive pass interference penalty on the opening drive.
Senior Day will take place next Tuesday, Nov. 19 as Kent State will honor the seniors in a pre-game ceremony inside Dix Stadium. Kickoff against rival Akron has been announced as 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
