Meiszner Wins Title at Navy Classic

Annapolis, MD.– Billy Meiszner led the Golden Flashes with a first-place finish at the 2024 Navy Classic.
The Orland Park, Illinois Native went 4-0 on Saturday, claiming the first championship of his collegiate career. He opened the tournament with a pin in 3:41 over Bucknell's Kaden Schaefer. Next, Meiszner defeated Kaemin Smith of Navy 11-4 to advance to the semi-finals, where he met Ayden Garver of Oregon State. Meiszner won 8-3 to make his way into the championship finals. In the first-place bout, he wrestled Carson DesRoiser of the Citadel. Meiszner broke a 1-1 tie late in the third period with a 3-point takedown to win 4-1. Meiszner improved his record to 8-4 on the season.
The Golden Flashes had two other wrestlers places. Nathan Roth collected two wins by pin and another one by tech. fall to finish 6th at 149 lbs. He defeated Elijah White of American by tech. fall 18-3. Roth then pinned Anthony Bahl of Indiana and Scott Robinson of Nebraska. Trent Thomas finished in 4th at 184 lbs. His wins included a 5-1 victory over JR Reed from Cleveland State and a 12-8 win over Logan Deacetis from Bucknell.
Kent State finished 7th overall with 43 team points. The Flashes will be back in action on December 5th against Lake Erie College. The match will start at 7:00 PM in the MAC Center.
