Davis Surpasses 1,000 Career Points as Flashes Fall to #6 Alabama

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The Kent State Men's Basketball team fell to #6 Aalbama on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 81-54. VonCameron Davis achieved the career milestone of 1,000 points during the game.
Both teams started slow trading defensive stops until Alabama opened the scoring with a pair of free throws a full three minutes into the game. Despite a 16-0 run from the Tide, the Flashes were eventually able to get some shots to fall in the final seven minutes of the first half. Jalen Sullinger, Marquis Barnett, Mike Bakelja, Jamal Sumlin, and Delrecco Gillespie among others were able to break through the Alabama defense. At 15:55 in the second half, Davis sunk a floating jumper to reach 1,000 career points. The following 10 minutes saw UA out pace Kent State 21-14 with Anthony Morales adding to the KSU total. The Crimson Tide maintained their cushion until the clock hit all zeros.
Davis became Kent State Golden Flash number 35 to achieve 1,000 career points scoring nine points. He joins his teammate Sullinger and assistant coach Randle Holt on the KSU 1,000 point scorers list. Barnett and Gillespie also scored nine with the trio leading the Flashes. Cli'Ron Hornbeak continued to lead the roster in rebounding with nine. He was followed on the stat sheet by Gillespie with eight. Morales also tallied six rebounds and five points on the day.
The Golden Flashes will return to the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, Dec. 29 to host Heidelberg University. The game is the second of a home KSU hoops doubleheader with the Kent State Women's Basketball team, and is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the completion of the women's game against John Carroll at 1:00 p.m. For more information on Kent State men's basketball, fans can follow the team on X, Instagram and Facebook.
