
Flashes to Host Portland Pilots

KENT – The Kent State Men's Basketball team returns home to the M.A.C. Center to host the University of Portland Pilots on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. This following a 2-1 showing at the Western Slam in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. The Flashes defeated Towson 65-54, fell to unbeaten UC Irvine 39-51, and bested Kennesaw State 67-60. Kent State's wins in the MTE were highlighted by the play of VonCameron Davis, Morgan Safford, Marquis Barnett, Anthony Morales, Jalen Sullinger, and Delrecco Gillespie.
Scouting the Pilots
The Kent State Golden Flashes and Portland Pilots have only met only once in history, and it was two years ago on Nov. 24, 2022 in Kent, Ohio; the Flashes welcomed Portland to the M.A.C. Center where they won 77-65. Portland is led is scoring by Vukasin Masic averaging 15.3 points per game, and Austin Rapp averaging 12.9. Head Coach Shantay Legans is in his 4th season at the helm of the Portland program; he was named HC in March 2021 following a successful stint at Eastern Washington. Last season the Pilots posted a 12-21 record reaching the second round of the West Coast Conference tournament championship where they fell to San Francisco.
