
Sullinger Surpasses 1,000 Career Points as Flashes Down Portland 76-57

KENT – The Kent State Men's Basketball team bested the Pilots of the University of Portland on Friday night by a final score of 76-57. Five different Flashes scored double-digits in the balanced team win.
The Golden Flashes contested shots early as they carried a four-point lead into the 11:13 media timeout. At 11:06 in the first half, Jalen Sullinger hit a three pointer to surpass 1,000 career points as a Kent State Golden Flash. KSU led by as much as 10 in the first 20 minutes before the Pilots closed it to three points by the half. Kent State continued to get good putbacks down the stretch from Delrecco Gillespie and Cli'Ron Hornbeak. Cian Medley, Jamal Sumlin, and VonCameron Davis all put up key buckets in the second half as Kent State tallied 45 points in the back 20 minutes. The Flashes pulled away in the last 10 minutes to earn the 19-point victory.
Davis led the scoresheet with 16. He was followed by Medley who tied a career high in points with 15 matching his performance a year ago at Saint Louis against Duquesne. Cli'Ron Hornbeak, Gillespie, and Sumlin all scored 10. Morgan Safford led the Flashes in rebounding with 11. Sullinger's seven points were enough to help him pass the career milestone. With 82 points so far this year, he has 1,002 and is 33rd all time for Kent State men's basketball in scoring. He will move up a spot on the list once he surpasses 1,006.
