Flashes Drop Final MAC-SBC Game in Trojan Arena

Troy, AL. - The Kent State men's basketball team (12-12, 5-6 MAC) was defeated 68-78 by the Troy Trojans in their final game of the MAC-SBC. The Flashes will have a by-week before their final MACtion stretch.
Despite four lead changes and five ties, the Flashes' biggest lead was only by two points in the first half. The Flashes were able to take advantage at the charity stripe shooting a nearly perfect 90 percent going 20-of-22. The Flashes dealt with fouls, allowing the Trojans to record 24 points from the foul line. The Trojans dominated inside the paint with 40 points while the Flahses only had 22 points. The Flashes were unable to connect offensively shooting 37.7 percent from the field and 32 percent from the three.
Reggie Bass led the Flashes with a team-high 21 points and six assists. VonCameron Davis followed with 16 points and Tyem Freeman chipped in 11. In the first half, neither team had wiggle room trading baskets and leads until the Trojans went on an offensive run creating a double-digit lead with three minutes left. The Flashes would creep back up and a three from Bass helped the Flashes cut the score 27-33 with two minutes left. Unfortunately, the Trojans made the shots they needed to lead 37-29 going into the final 20 minutes of regulation. The second half wasn't much different as the Trojans started with a 6-0 run. The Flashes continued to struggle offensively and defensively giving the Trojans 19 attempts at the foul line and being outshot 52 percent to 36.7 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Trojans were able to take a 20-point lead with 7:54 left and would continue to keep the lead by double-digits for the remainder of the game.

The Flashes will have a by-week to get rested before the last stretch of MACtion. The Flashes will host NIU on Saturday, Feb. 17 inside the M.A.C. Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
