
Flashes Set for Outdoor Opener at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN- The Kent State track and field team is set to begin the outdoor portion of their schedule tomorrow, March 22, at the Mylan Park Track and Field Complex hosted by Kent State University. Kent is coming off a successful indoor campaign that saw the women's team finish second and the men's team capture their second indoor conference title at the Mid-American Conference championships.
On Friday, the women's hammer throw will begin at 10 a.m. with the men following. All other events will be contested Saturday starting with the men's discus and women's shot put at 10 a.m.. The running events will begin at 11 a.m. with the women's 5,000-meter run. The men's 4x400-meter relay will conclude the meet at approximately 7:40 p.m.
Kent has 84 athletes entered in the meet, led by two-time All-American Gabby Bailey who will throw the shot and discus. Bailey was the MAC champion in the shot put during the indoor season. Aliesha Shaw will throw both shot and discus, she is a three-time conference runner-up in the former. Indoor school record-holder Kristian Kneffler leads the men in the pole vault. Other returning all-MAC performers from last season competing are three-time defending triple jump champion Alexandre Malanda in the long jump. Three-time all-MAC performer Nolan Landis will throw the shot and discus.

Parking at the Mylan Park Track Complex is $5 and can be paid upon entry.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Golden Flashes will split squads next weekend, sending a small group of distance runners to the Raleigh Relays, a group of sprinters to the Texas Relays, and the rest of the team will travel to Cincinnati to the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational.
