
Kent State Hosts Ohio for Tuesday Doubleheader at Devine Diamond

Kent State will play its first home Mid-American Conference softball games at Devine Diamond of the season on Tuesday, hosting Ohio for a doubleheader scheduled for 12:35 p.m.
About the Golden Flashes
Kent State (18-10, 4-2 MAC) dropped two of three games at Northern Illinois over the weekend and sits third in the conference standings. Sophomore Brynn Libler had a big weekend at the plate, going 5-for-8 with three RBIs. Libler is the MAC leader with a .563 batting average during league play.
Junior Savannah Wing is having a breakout season and is hitting .386 with 27 RBIs and MAC-leading 12 doubles. Graduate student Julia Mazanec is on a 13-game hitting streak and has a .364 batting average. Senior Emily Lippe collected her 100th career and launched her team-best seventh home run of the season during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Lippe is one of three Flashes with an on-base percentage above .400 and had 24 RBIs.
Sophomore Macy Irelan (7-4) ranks second in the conference with a 1.97 ERA and has 94 strikeouts, which is third. Freshman Megan Nuechterlein (11-4) shares MAC lead with 11 wins.
Scouting the Opposition
Ohio (15-18, 3-6 MAC) took the final two games from Central Michigan over the weekend to win its first conference series of the season. Tori O'Brien has a team-high .378 batting average and is tied for the MAC lead with seven sac bunts. Yasmine Logan provides a powerful bat with a .600 slugging percentage and team-best 25 RBIs. Skipp Miller (8-11) ranks third nationally with 13 complete games and has tossed a conference-high 118.0 innings. Miller has a 2.73 ERA and 63 strikeouts.
Series History
Kent State is 74-58 all-time against Ohio. The Bobcats won the series last season in Athens and have taken five of the last six matchups overall.

Kent State will travel to Toledo for a three-game series on April 6-7.
