
Golden Flashes Head to Buffalo for Tuesday Doubleheader

Kent State will play a Mid-American Conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Buffalo. First pitch from Nan Harvey Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed on the UB Bulls YouTube channel.
About the Golden Flashes
Kent State (19-17, 5-9 MAC) looks to get the bats going again after dropping three games to Western Michigan over the weekend.
The Golden Flashes are hitting above .300 for the first time since 2018 and rankย third in the MAC in batting average (.302) and scoring (4.86 runs per game).
Graduate student Julia Mazanec leads the way at the plate and holds top-10 rankings in the conference in batting average (.381), slugging percentage (.628) and runs scored (29). Mazanec recorded Kent State's second multi-homer performance of the season in the series opener against the Broncos.
Junior Savannah Wing is having a breakout season and is chasing the program's single-season doubles record. Wing has 15 two-baggers, which ranks 12th nationally, while batting .333 with a team-high 29 RBIs.
Senior Emily Lippe launched her eighth home run of the season on Sunday and is second on the team with 25 RBIs.
Sophomore Macy Irelan (7-7) leads a pitching staff with a 2.56 ERA that ranks fourth in the MAC while ranking third with 102 strikeouts. Freshman Megan Nuechterlein (12-6) is tied for second in the conference with 12 wins.
Scouting the Opposition
Buffalo (12-23, 4-10 MAC) has lost five in a row and been outscored 27-1 over the last four games.
Alexis Lucyshyn (8-9) leads the MAC with five shutouts and ranks second with 121 strikeouts. Lucyshyn has a 2.85 ERA over a team-best 105.2 innings. The fifth-year leads the Bulls' offensively with nine doubles and 21 RBIs.
Mia Mitchell has been the top hitter with a .284 batting average, six home runs and nine stolen bases. Sara Kelly has found her swing in conference action and is hitting .364 against MAC pitchers.
Series History
Kent State is 47-15 all-time against Buffalo. The Golden Flashes took two of three games to win the series last season in Kent. The Bulls have won each of the last four games played in Buffalo.
On Deck
Kent State will be back in action at Devine Diamond this weekend against Bowling Green. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. with a single game slated for 12 p.m. Sunday.
